Health benefits of sesame seeds

One of the first oil seeds known to humankind, sesame seeds are used in culinary as well as in traditional medicines for their nutritive, preventive, and curative properties. Its oil seeds are sources for some phyto-nutrients such as omega-6 fatty acids, flavonoid phenolic anti-oxidants, vitamins and dietary fiber with potent anti-cancer as well as health promoting properties.
Sesame plant is a tall annual herb of the pedaliaceae family, which grows extensively in Asia, particularly in Burma, China, and Pakistan. It is also one of main commercial crops in Nigeria, Sudan and Ethiopia. Its scientific name: Sesamum indicum.
The plant requires well-drained sandy soil and tropical environment to flourish. It grows to about 5 feet tall and bears plenty of pink-white foxglove type flowers. The pods appear soon containing white, brown, or black seeds depending up on the cultivar type, arranged in rows inside. Each pod (2-5 cm in length) is a long rectangular box like capsule with deep grooves on its sides. A pod (1 to 3 in. in length) may contain up to 100 or more seeds.
Sesame seeds are small, almost oblate in shape featuring pleasant nutty flavor and high oil content.

Health benefits of sesame seeds

  • Delicious, crunchy sesame seeds are widely considered healthful foods. They are high in energy but contain many health benefiting nutrients, minerals, antioxidants and vitamins that are essential for wellness.
  • The seeds are especially rich in mono-unsaturated fatty acid oleicacid, which comprise up to 50% fatty acids in them. Oleic acid helps to lower LDLor "bad cholesterol" and increase HDL or "good cholesterol" in the blood. Research studies suggest that Mediterranean diet which is rich in mono-unsaturated fats help to prevent coronary artery disease and stroke by favoring healthy lipid profile.
  • The seeds are also very good source of dietary proteins with fine quality amino acids that are essential for growth, especially in children. Just 100 g of seeds provide about 18 g of protein (32% of daily-recommended values).
  • In addition, sesame seeds contain many health benefiting compounds such as sesamol(3, 4-methylene-dioxyphenol), sesaminol, furyl-methanthiol, guajacol (2-methoxyphenol), phenylethanthiol and furaneol, vinylguacol and decadienal. Sesamoland sesaminolare phenolic anti-oxidants. Together, these compounds help stave off harmful free radicals from the body.
  • Sesame is amongst the seeds rich in quality vitamins and minerals. They are very good sources of B-complex vitamins such as niacin, folic acid, thiamin (vitamin B1), pyridoxine (vitamin B6), and riboflavin.
  • 100 g of sesame contains 97 mcg of folic acid, about 25% of recommended daily intake. Folic acid is essential for DNA synthesis. When given in expectant mothers during peri-conception period, it may prevent neural tube defects in the baby.
  • Niacinis another B-complex vitamin found abundantly in sesame. About 4.5 mg or 28% of daily-required levels of niacin is provided by just 100 g of seeds. Niacin help reduce LDL-cholesterol levels in the blood. In addition, it enhances GABA activity inside the brain, which in turn helps reduce anxiety and neurosis.
  • The seeds are incredibly rich sources of many essential minerals. Calcium, iron, manganese, zinc, magnesium, selenium, and copper are especially concentrated in sesame seeds. Many of these minerals have vital role in bone mineralization, red blood cell production, enzyme synthesis, hormone production, as well as regulation of cardiac and skeletal muscle activities.
Just a hand full of sesame a day provides enough recommended levels of phenolic anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins and protein.

Advantages and disadvantages of mineral water

Unheard of only a generation ago, bottled water has become a ubiquitous part of World's experience. Many people keep one with them at all times, going through several per day, thinking they are doing a good thing. It's certainly healthier for your body than soda or other sugary drinks, and it's definitely convenient. But habitually buying bottled water does nothing good for your wallet or the planet.

Convenient

The main selling point of bottled water is the convenience. It's comforting to have a ready supply of drinking water with you when you're in the car, hiking in the mountains, out for a run or anywhere that water is not easily accessible. Without bottled water, many people may turn to sugar-laden sodas and juices to quench an inconvenient thirst. Bottled water is a healthier alternative when it comes to staying hydrated on the go.

Regulated/Clean

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulates the production of bottled water, so you can be sure that the water in that bottle is clean and free of contaminants. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulates your tap water the same way, but clean tap water is not always available. After natural disasters, water lines may be disrupted, and water treatment plants may be temporarily offline, which means that the water supply coming into your home may be contaminated or completely nonexistent. In these cases, bottled water can literally be a lifesaver.

Expensive

Depending on the size of the bottle and the brand, bottled water varies dramatically in price. The one thing that is constant is that it always costs more than filling a glass at your sink. When you buy a bottle of water, the water itself only costs a few cents -- the rest of the money goes toward packaging, shipping, advertising and other administrative costs, with about 25 to 30 percent left over as profit for the manufacturer. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, bottled water is more expensive than milk, wine or oil.

Wasteful

The biggest problem with bottled water is the waste. When the water's gone, the bottle remains. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says that Americans used 31 billion bottles of water in 2006, and the bottles used in New York alone would reach the moon if they were stacked. Ninety percent of water bottles end up in the trash, wasting the energy and materials it took to make them, as well as landfill space and the resources necessary to make new bottles. Recycle your empty water bottle every time. Better yet -- purchase a reusable water bottle and refill it from the tap to save money and the environment.

Health benefit of Soup

As everybody knows that the winter is coming and lot of preparations are being made related to cloths, food etc. So my today's topic is about soup.

Unlike what happens during stewing and frying, vegetables, mushrooms, meat and poultry cooked directly in soups conserve much more of their natural nutrients, vitamins and general essence. And despite the fact that soups usually contain a lot less calories than the main dish, they aren’t any less nutritious or filling.

Vegetable soups are best because of their stimulating and health qualities, but soups in general are good because they help restore the necessary water balance, which in turn helps keep our blood pressure (and salt content) under control. If you keep thinking about chicken soup and its much-talked about benefits on cold and flu attacks, you would be happy to know that the old tales are true: chicken soup (especially if homemade or organic) has anti-inflammatory effects and can help lessen the symptoms of a cold. Adding a quick bowl of soup to your meals during the cold season can help you warm up, protect your organism and avoid unnecessary calories.

Other benefits of soup:

  • Low in fat (specially saturated fat)
  • Great for sick people and those who have trouble chewing, digesting or are recuperating from an illness.
  • Miso soup and other soups made with soy can help lower the risk of breast cancer. In fact, a recent Japanese study showed that their level of breast cancer is about 10 times lower than in the West.
  • Great during dieting periods or if you want to lose weight quickly for a special occasion. Do keep in mind that drinking lots of bowls of one specific broth (like cabbage) is unlikely to result in any more weight loss than drinking a variety of soups.
  • Thick soups (especially those that contain pureed vegetables, béchamel sauce or eggs) can be used as main dishes and are a great way to get more veggies into your diet.
  • Cold soups such as Gazpacho and Borscht are a great summer meal.
  • Most soups now come in a low-fat, low-sodium option for those who want more control over the nutritional content of their diet. Vegetarian soups are also widely available and can be a great option for those worried about saturated fat.

Almond is way better than any other snack

In the quest for luxurious locks, many people spend hundreds of dollars on hair products and expensive treatments every year. Between time-consuming visits to the salon and expensive trips to beauty stores, most people never consider that one of the best hair care products available sits on the shelf at their local grocery store. When eaten regularly, almonds protect the body against heart disease, diabetes and weight gain. Interestingly, they also pack a powerful punch in promoting healthy hair growth.
Loaded with vitamins and nutrients, almonds pack a considerably nutritious punch when eaten in moderation. In fact, the Nuts For Almonds website refers to the almond as "one of the most nutritious of all nuts." A 1/4-cup serving of dry roasted almonds provides approximately 45 percent of your daily recommended allowance of manganese and vitamin E. Additionally, the nut provides nearly 25 percent of the recommended daily allowance of magnesium. Magnesium is "an essential mineral for growing healthy strands." In fact, a deficiency of magnesium within the body has been linked to hair loss. When consumed properly, magnesium and other nutrients help the body to not only maintain proper functioning, but also encourage the healthy growth of hair, skin and nails.
One of the most important tips a person can follow to help the hair grow is to eat a healthy diet absent of foods high in fat or sugar. Along with their wholesome nutrition, almonds indirectly help you maintain a better diet. If you are snacking on almonds, you are certainly not snacking on potato chips, French fries or chocolate cake. Scientists have noted for many years that people who regularly eat almonds tend to weigh less than people who do not. Since a proper diet and healthy body are essential for proper hair growth and almonds indirectly improve your diet, it can be said that almonds indirectly improve your hair's growth.
Along with eating the healthy nuts, you can also apply almond oil to your hair for an inexpensive and effective moisturizing treatment. The pale yellow oil, which is extracted from almonds, features copious amounts of vitamin E and vitamin D. When a few drops of almond oil are massaged into the scalp, the oil gently smooths the hair cuticles and nourishes the scalp. If the treatment is done once every week or so, you will likely experience hair growth that is stronger, healthier and shiner.

Cashews or Caju

Mildly sweet yet crunchy, delicious cashew nut is packed with energy, antioxidants, minerals and vitamins that are essential for robust health! Cashews, or "caju" in Portugese, are a popular ingredient in sweet as well savory dishes.
The cashew tree is native to Brazil’s Amazon rain forest, which spread all over the world by Portuguese explorers. Today, it is grown commercially in Brazil, Vietnam, and Pakistan and in many African countries.
Cashew tree bears numerous, edible, pear shaped false fruits or“accessory fruits” called "cashew apples." A small bean shaped, grey color “true fruit” is firmly adhering to lower end of these apples appearing like a clapper in the bell. This true fruit is actually a drupe, featuring hard outer shell enclosing a single edible seed or the“cashew nut.” The outer shell contains a phenolic resin, urushiol, which is a potent caustic skin irritant toxin. It is, therefore, the outer shell is roasted in the processing unit in order to destroy the resin, urushioland then, the edible nut is extracted.
Cashew nut measures about a inch in length and 1/2 inches in diameter with kidney or bean shape, and smooth curvy pointed tip. Each nut has two equal halves as in legumes. The nuts are cream white color with firm yet delicate texture and smooth surface. Cashews have buttery texture with pleasant sweet fruity aroma.
Cashews are high in calories. 100 g of nuts provide 553 calories. They are packed with soluble dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals and numerous health-promoting phyto-chemicals that help protect from diseases and cancers.
They are rich in “heart-friendly”monounsaturated fatty acids like oleicand palmitoleic acidsthat help to lower or bad LDL cholesterol and increase good HDL cholesterol. Research studies suggest that Mediterranean diet, which is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids helps to prevent coronary artery disease and strokes by favoring healthy blood lipid profile.
Cashew nuts are very rich source of minerals. Minerals especially manganese, potassium, copper, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium are concentrated in the nuts. A handful of cashew nuts a day in the diet would provide enough of these minerals and prevent deficiency diseases. Seleniumis an important micronutrient, which functions as co-factor for antioxidant enzymes such as Glutathione peroxidases, one of the most powerful antioxidant in the body.Copperis a cofactor for many vital enzymes, including cytochrome c-oxidase and superoxide dismutase (other minerals function as co-factors for this enzyme are manganese and zinc). Zincis a co-factor in many enzymes that regulate growth and development, sperm generation, digestion and nucleic acid synthesis.
Cashews are also rich in many essential vitamins such as pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), pyridoxine (vitamin B-6), riboflavin, and thiamin (vitamin B-1). These vitamins are essential in the sense that our body requires them from external sources to replenish and essential for metabolism of protein, fat, and carbohydrates at cellular levels.
In addition, the nuts are also containing small amount of Zea-xanthin, an important flavonoid antioxidant, which selectively absorbed into the retinal macula lutea in the eyes. It is thought to provide antioxidant and protective UV ray filtering functions and helps prevent age related macular degeneration (ARMD) in the elderly.

50 first Dates

Yeah! i know , you thought about adam sandler movie but this date which i am talking about is also not bad.....:) So lets talk about about dates.
Dates have recently become the healthier alternative to chocolate. In shops we can now buy different varieties of date – from dried and plain to stoned and glazed with pure sugar. The date itself is very nutritious but added Glucose is never a good thing. If you want to benefit most from this fruit, choose the most pure and natural version you can find. Sweetened dates will still have the benefits but also might carry disadvantages which are related to the overconsumption of sugar.
Dates originate from the Middle East and grow on palm trees. There are different types of date species cultivated which vary in size, colour and nutritional components.

Dates are made out of simple sugars, some starch and cellulose. When ripening the simple sugar content increases and fibre concentration decreases. Dieters have recognised this property and commonly use it for enforcing weight loss. Dietary fibre also might prevent abdominal cancer.

Even though dates are fruit they still contain small amounts of fatty acids, both saturated and unsaturated. There has been spotted an opportunity to use dates as a source of oleic acid which can be found in the seeds of dates. Also found in the olive oil, it has a lowering effect on the blood pressure and cholesterol levels. The problem would be though to ensure the digestion of these seeds to get any benefits at all.

They can be used in different ways, like making smoothies or putting in custered cakes etc or eating it simply as they are available.

Toxic paracetamol

Paracetamol is widely available and has been around since the 1950s. It is widely prescribed and cheap to buy over-the-counter, making it a common drug taken in overdose. It is a very useful analgesic (alone or in combination) and also is an antipyretic. It is normally found as a 500 mg tablet, but it is often combined with other active ingredients in various preparations.
In the UK it is the most common agent of intentional self-harm and is responsible for approximately 70,000 cases per year.It is the most common cause of  acute liver failure.
  • It is important to remember that, when used at therapeutic levels, paracetamol is safe and effective.
  • Paracetamol overdose may occur intentionally and accidentally; the latter due to the high number of combination products available over-the-counter.
  • Less than 150 mg/kg - unlikely
  • More than 250 mg/kg - likely
  • More than 12 g total - potentially fatal
  • Paracetamol can cause serious or fatal adverse effects at around 150 mg/kg for most adults.
  • The level is higher for young children. NB: Toxbase® says there is no choice but to treat children younger than 6 years the same as adults. However, there is a large body of data in the published literature that shows the threshold for likely hepatotoxicity exceeds 225 mg/kg for this age group and so using a value of 200 mg/kg is a safe option and reduces waiting times and the number of unnecessary blood tests with their associated distress.
  • There is a theoretical argument for increased risk with enzyme induction or low glutathione reserves. There are case reports of chronic alcoholics taking relatively small overdose (OD) or even therapeutic doses of paracetamol who develop liver failure. However close examination of these case reports shows up some inconsistencies and suggests that it is unclear that these all provide any substantial evidence supporting the hypothesis. Even the seminal paper that formed the basis of the UK guidelines suggests that there is no evidence base for the practice of a 50% high-risk line on the nomogram.

Coffee

In my childhood i never used to drink coffee as i didnt like the taste. But one day i read in a magazine about the benefits of drinking coffee and i was really amazed. So i started drinking it as a medicine and now i am big fan of coffee and i enjoy drinking coffee.
So here are some benefits which i read on different places and compiled for you guys.
  1. Antioxidant Rich - coffee, due to its high caffeine content, is a great source of antioxidants. Antioxidants are cancer preventative and help fight the negative affects of aging.
  2. Anti Bacterial and Anti Adhesive Qualities - believe it or not, Italian researchers discovered this interesting little fact as they were conducting experiments regarding their favorite national drink that was getting a bad rep by health researchers ("them"). Practically speaking, this means that coffee is proven to prevent cavities (provided you don't dump an ocean of sugar into your drink).
  3. Promotes Digestion - because coffee is a diuretic, it generally speaking, sends people straight to the bathroom. When I was doing my research for IBS articles, although some doctors claimed coffee may irritate the stomach, other doctors recommended it as one of the natural tricks to "help move things along" and prescribed drinking a cup or two a day.
  4. Improves Athletic Endurance and Performance - Believe it or not, coffee has recently been labeled a "controlled" substance for athletes participating in the Olympic Games due to the unfair performance advantages large amounts of the drink provides. Coffee has proven to increase athletic endurance as well as general coordination and performing abilities in serious athletes.
  5. Decreases Depression - studies conducted on school age children in Brazil demonstrated that children who drank a cup of coffee before going to school had a much lower instance of depression later in life than those who didn't drink coffee.
  6. Decreases Your Chances of Developing Parkinson's Disease - 6 separate studies conducted by researchers have proven that people who drink large amounts of coffee on a regular basis are 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's disease then those that don't.
  7. Decreases Your Risk of Developing Colon Cancer - studies have shown that people who drink 2 cups of coffee on a regular basis have a 25% reduced risk of developing colon cancer.
  8. Offsets the Damaging Effects of Smoking - coffee has proven to offset some of the negative side effects of heavy smokers, such as heart disease and liver damage.
  9. Treats Asthma and Headaches - asthma and headache medicines contain large doses of caffeine in them due to the substance's ability to treat their symptoms. The caffeine found in coffee, although present in smaller amounts, has proven to have the same positive affects on alleviating headaches and treating asthma.
  10. Reduces Your Risk of Liver Disease - studies have shown that people who drink 2 cups of coffee on a daily basis have an 80% reduced risk rate of developing liver cirrhosis

"Banana" Just forget about the jokes for sometime

Hello readers; leaving aside the lot of jokes about banana lets consider the usefulness of this fruit. I have seen lot of people who don't eat it just because of it's shape. They feel embarassed by eating it in front of other people. But if you read this article you will know that it has lot of benefits.

Bananas do not come from trees, but from large plants that are giant herbs related to the lily and orchid family. The bunches of 50 to 150 bananas in which they grow are known as "hands."

Bananas originated in Maylasia about 4,000 years ago. They had a long route to traverse from there to the U.S., where they were not sold until the latter part of the 1800s. From Maylasia, they spread throughout the Philippines and India. Arabian traders introduced them to Africa. Portuguese explorers discovered them there in 1482 and took them to the Americas. Today, the main commercial producers are Costa Rica, Mexico, Ecuador and Brazil and most of the African countries like Nigeria.

Bananas grow in most tropical and subtropical regions. There are more than 300 varieties of bananas. They are the fourth most important staple food in the developing world. The annual global production is some 86 million tons. They are the most popular fruit in the U.S., and the average American eats 25 lbs. of bananas per year.

Whether or not you like the taste and texture of bananas (some people dislike the latter), there is no denying that they are nutritious, as well as handy to eat, coming as they do in their own natural, biodegradable "wrapper." They are high in Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, potassium, dietary fiber, and magnesium, but free of sodium and cholesterol. They are almost fat free, and relatively low in calories. Depending on its size, a banana has only about 90 to110 calories. They contain high-grade protein and three of the essential amino acids. Bananas and milk supplement each other very well.

Bananas make excellent snacks for both adults and children. They are a great source of instant energy, either before your workout or after it. Due to their potassium, they help muscles contract properly during exercise and reduce cramps. Because of their sweet taste, they can substitute for sweets and help satisfy sugar cravings. Yet they are fairly low on the glycemic index, between 30 and 60, based on their stage of ripeness.

A less ripe banana - yellow but with no brown speckles - provides longer lasting energy than do most sweet foods. But after strenuous exercise, when muscle energy is depleted, a ripe banana - one with numerous brown speckles on the skin - can deliver very quick energy. Extremely ripe, mainly brown bananas are not "bad," so don't throw them out. They are very good for baking into muffins, banana bread, and the like. The overall nutritional content of the banana is not significantly altered by its stage of ripeness. When you buy bananas, make sure that both the stems and the tips are intact.

Ripe bananas can also help boost mood and help promote sleep, due to the serotonin and tryptophan that they contain. However, it is probably too strong a statement to say that they can relieve true depression.

Very few people are allergic to bananas, and they are often the first solid food given to babies, who tend to love them. They make a healthful way to help supply the energy needs of growing, active children.

Less ripe bananas help relieve constipation. Riper bananas help relieve diarrhea. Bananas are easy to digest. They are a very good source of fructooligosaccharide, a compound called a prebiotic because it nourishes the friendly probiotic bacteria in the colon. These friendly bacteria help improve our ability to absorb nutrients such as calcium.

In most people, bananas have an antacid effect, and can help protect against stomach ulcers and ulcer damage. They do this in two ways. They help activate the cells that compose the stomach lining, and the protease inhibitors in bananas help eliminate bacteria that have been pinpointed as a primary cause of stomach ulcers.

People who are allergic to latex may also be allergic to avocados, bananas, and chestnuts. Fruit processed with ethylene gas might be especially troublesome. Therefore, if you know you are allergic to latex but want to try bananas, buy organic ones not treated with gas.

Wheat - A gift from God

What is common between cakes, bread, crackers, pasta and egg noodles? All of them almost always contain flour! The wheat is processed in various methods in order to create different kinds of preparations of several nutritious foods. The wheat kernels or berries, which are ground to obtain wheat flour, consist of three distinct parts: bran, embryo and the endosperm. During the milling process, they are separated and recombined to produce varieties of wheat flour. But, since we are talking about whole wheat flour, a textured and brownish appearance is seen due to the presence of bran, the outer covering of the kernels. Whole wheat flour provides significant nutrients and health benefits. Listed here are some of the advantages of consuming whole wheat flour.

History

Believed to be among civilized man’s first foods, the origin of ground wheat can be traced back to the Far East, Egypt and Rome as early as 6,700 BC. The grains were powdered using rocks as water mills appeared only in 85 BC in Asia Minor. Later, between 1180 and 1190 AD, windmills appeared in Syria, France and England. A native to southwestern Asia, whole wheat was introduced to the Western Hemisphere only in the late 15th century when Christopher Columbus reached America on his second voyage to the New World. Though wheat was grown in the United States, it was only in the late 19th century that it gained popularity and flourished extensively. The Russian Federation, the United States, China, Pakistan, France and Canada are amongst the largest producers of whole wheat flour today.

Health Benefits of Atta (Whole Wheat Flour)

  • Whole foods, including whole wheat flour, contain some of the healthiest fats, carbohydrates and proteins, which are essential in lowering the risk of developing metabolic syndromes.
  • Whole wheat flour has been associated with reversing the weight gain process. The consumption of these high-fiber foods helps in boosting the metabolic rate and thus, contributes to keeping the body weight under control.
  • Consuming whole wheat flour in foods has been proven to protect the body against the risk of insulin resistance, which can otherwise lead to visceral obesity, low levels of protective HDL cholesterol, high triglycerides and high blood pressure. There is sufficient protection against cardiovascular problems.
  • Whole wheat flour is an excellent source of insoluble fiber which is vital for preventing the formation of gallstones, especially in women, by speeding up the intestinal transit time and reducing the secretion of bile acids. Excessive amounts of bile acids can lead to gallstone formation.
  • Cereals high in bran, such as whole wheat, have excellent laxative properties that are necessary for alleviating symptoms of diverticular disease like pain, nausea, flatulence, constipation, distension and so on. These conditions are characterized by inflammation and lower abdominal pains, sometimes leading to the formation of a pouch in the wall of the colon due to chronic constipation and excessive straining.
  • Being an anti-cancerous agent, whole wheat flour boosts the metabolism of estrogen, which is regarded as a promoter of breast cancer. The bran in whole wheat is highly beneficial in preventing cancerous agents in the colon, which can otherwise increase the concentration of bile acids and bacterial enzymes in the stool.
  • Eating a serving of whole wheat can reduce levels of cholesterol, high blood pressure and other signs of cardiovascular disease.
  • A rich intake of whole wheat is significantly linked to lowering the risk of wheezing and asthma in children
  • Whole wheat contains the powerful antioxidant, vitamin E, which protects fat-containing substances, like cell membranes, brain cells and fatty molecules, from free radical damage. In turn, the vitamins are essential for immune system function, cancer prevention and blood glucose control for both healthy and diabetic people.

Dust Allergy

Many people are allergic to dust. People with asthma can suffer from an attack of difficulty breathing, cough, or wheezing due to dust. Dust is a mixture of waste material like human skin particles, mould spores, human hair, pet's presence, food particles, and cockroaches. You can reduce the dust by adopting methods like removing shoes at the door and good cleaning habits. However, reducing house dust neither changes the fundamental imbalance of the person suffering from dust allergy nor provides treatment.

The dust allergy problem worsens if you do not keep the house clean. The main cause of allergic reactions in dust is dust mites. The particles of dust mites are tiny and float in air which people inhale while they walk or adjust bedding that results in the symptoms of dust allergy. Even dusting or vacuum will not solve the problem of dust mites present in mattress or carpets rather it would increase the dust particles in air.

Treatment for Dust Allergy
Try to avoid dust mites as it works best to get relief from the symptoms. Taking proper medications and allergy shots is also useful in getting rid of the allergy symptoms. Although you cannot remove the dust mites present in your house, you can reduce them by following anti-mite procedures. You can enquire regarding these procedures from your allergist.

Cleaning the house regularly with a damp cloth or vacuum cleaner would reduce the surface dust. Do not use carpets in bedroom as they contains dust mites. Low pile carpets should only be used if necessary. Wood, linoleum, or vinyl floor coverings are good options, as these do not contain mites. Replace items that tend to accumulate dust with those that are easy to clean. Select sofas, bookshelves, and other types of furniture that is easy to clean and free of dust mites. Using an air conditioner reduces dust in the air. Pets should not be allowed in rooms, as they are collectors of dust mites.

You should consult an allergist if the symptoms persist even after following these procedures. An allergist will ask you specific questions about your home and work environment, presence of pets, eating habits, and family history to determine the cause of symptoms. He may recommend a skin test. It is an easy, cheap way to identify allergies. However, you can get relief from allergy symptoms by consulting an allergy clinic as they can recommend the most effective treatment for you

Exercise benefits

Like most people, you've probably heard that physical activity and exercise are good for you. In fact, being physically active on a regular basis is one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself. Studies have shown that exercise provides many health benefits and that older adults can gain a lot by staying physically active. Even moderate exercise and physical activity can improve the health of people who are frail or who have diseases that accompany aging.
Being physically active can also help you stay strong and fit enough to keep doing the things you like to do as you get older. Making exercise and physical activity a regular part of your life can improve your health and help you maintain your independence as you age.

Regular physical activity and exercise are important to the physical and mental health of almost everyone, including older adults. Staying physically active and exercising regularly can produce long-term health benefits and even improve health for some older people who already have diseases and disabilities. That's why health experts say that older adults should aim to be as active as possible.

Although exercise and physical activity are among the healthiest things you can do for yourself, some older adults are reluctant to exercise. Some are afraid that exercise will be too hard or that physical activity will harm them. Others might think they have to join a gym or have special equipment. Yet, studies show that "taking it easy" is risky. For the most part, when older people lose their ability to do things on their own, it doesn't happen just because they've aged. It's usually because they're not active

It is proven that inactive people are nearly twice as likely to develop heart disease as those who are more active. Lack of physical activity also can lead to more visits to the doctor, more hospitalizations, and more use of medicines for a variety of illness.

Scientists have found that staying physically active and exercising regularly can help prevent or delay many diseases and disabilities. In some cases, exercise is an effective treatment for many chronic conditions. For example, studies show that people with arthritis, heart disease, or diabetes benefit from regular exercise. Exercise also helps people with high blood pressure, balance problems, or difficulty walking.

Regular, moderate physical activity can help manage stress and improve your mood. And, being active on a regular basis may help reduce feelings of depression. Studies also suggest that exercise can improve or maintain some aspects of cognitive function, such as your ability to shift quickly between tasks, plan an activity, and ignore irrelevant information.

Some people may wonder what the difference is between physical activity and exercise. Physical activities are activities that get your body moving such as gardening, walking the dog and taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Exercise is a form of physical activity that is specifically planned, structured, and repetitive such as weight training, tai chi, or an aerobics class. Including both in your life will provide you with health benefits that can help you feel better and enjoy life more as you age.
